To support communities in producing free (or low-cost) solar-powered pop-up fairs to teach sustainability and integrated design with Science Technology Engineering Arts Math (STEAM), intentionally centering education and community resilience for all ages.
We serve the underserved families and communities who face cost, transportation, or opportunity barriers to STEAM and cultural learning through interactive workshops, green-tech demonstrations, local marketplace opportunities, green workforce development, art, and music.

The SunRise Fairs LLC team brings solar-powered, sustainability-focused festivals to communities – connecting nature, technology, and culture in one vibrant day. Powered by pop-up solar micro-grids, our events feature green marketplaces, STEAM workshops, music, and job opportunities, prioritizing under-resourced and BIPOC communities. We foster local economic growth, climate education, and workforce development to ensure every fair leaves a lasting impact.

Jessica Thiessen is a creative strategist and problem-solver with over 15 years in project management, 5 years in marketing, and 20 years in entertainment. As founder of JessTCreate, she has led $300M+ in projects, produced major events, and developed campaigns for nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and clean energy leaders. Passionate about community impact, Jessica blends technical expertise, creative vision, and grassroots engagement to ensure SunRise Fairs inspire, connect, and deliver lasting change.
Adam Powers' work reflects a deep commitment to inclusivity and economic viability in the renewable energy space, particularly for BIPOC communities. His efforts have included creating a workforce program to train aspiring solar developers, expanding community solar projects, promoting their benefits, and championing the use of Justice 40 funds to support renewable energy in underserved areas. His many roles are a testament to his dedication to a sustainable future for all.
Afrika Velada brings over 25 years of experience in IT, program management, process improvement, and project leadership. A successful entrepreneur, she has founded and operated multiple businesses, including Motherland Consulting and Motherland Farms—an urban farm specializing in aquaponics and hydroponics. As a Master Gardener, Afrika integrates sustainable agriculture into community development. She also has extensive event management experience, most recently leading the Back to the Roots festival, blending cultural celebration with environmental education.
Natalie Gray is a child of the Pacific Northwest, third-generation American, socio-environmental sustainability practitioner, and visual & performing artist. She uses her career to connect communities to the resources they need to achieve their sustainable development goals.
She's been spied in action at the UN, the Mayor's Office at the City of Seattle, in cleantech (where she's worked closely with our friend Adam since 2018), and the University of Washington, where she received her degree in Environmental Science and Resource Management.
